I live in London and for those of you who know me or read my blog will know, I’m not really a city person. So after a little bit of googling one day (long time ago) I found this wetland centre in London, I bookmarked the page and that was that.
Fast forward to about a year later and I was cleaning up my bookmarks and wa-la I found this link that I had forgotten about and decided we HAD to go.
It’s the London Wetland Centre in Barnes. If you’re in London and craving some wildlife, you have to go to this place. It is amazing. The second you turn off the super busy road to get there, you can feel the quiet and peace of it all. We felt as though we had been transported back to South Africa to one of the nature reserves there, it’s that amazing. It is a wetland centre so it’s birds and ducks, there are some great areas for kiddies and you can even have your wedding there.
There are these incredible hides that you can sit inside and wait and watch for birds.
In a nutshell, you should go. You will love it and if the weather is co-operating you’ll have a really lovely day out and feel as though you’ve escaped this city.
